As the aunt to three home schooled children, and a parent that knows all parents need to be involved with their children’s education, I’m aware of the challenges, choices, and opportunities that come with home schooling.
I’m excited to offer classes in robotics and computer programming to home schooled students, and I make specific changes to these classes to make them better for home school programs.
First, the curriculum is lengthened and strengthened to contain more academic information and there is more demand on the students to perform.
Second, I include before and after assessment of the students. There is also homework that is corrected and discussed with students, usually on a weekly basis.
Third, classes are tailored to fit the needs of the given group. I prefer to have 4 -8 students in a home school group, and change lesson plans based on the expectations and level of achievement that group is ready for.
Lastly, I am willing to travel to meet with groups in their own homes or local settings to make the lessons more readily available to groups of students.
